A Tough Act to Follow

They say, as a parent, you should Give your children more than you had when you were young.

For us, I'm not sure that's possible.

Even just to tie, Jack and I must...

 ...hang Jane's art on the walls.
 ...let her make mistakes.  Even if we made them, too.
 ...never say no when she wants a book.
 ...remind her that Our first car didn't cost that much!  Loudly.  Often.  In front of people.
 ...buy the good cereal.
 ...respect her ideas.  Even if they make no sense to us.
 ...never say a word when she brings home a friend we don't like.  Even when they eat the good cereal.
 ...take her to the circus.
 ...take her to the dentist.
 ...take her seriously.
 ...tell her we love her.  Loudly.  Often.  In front of people.
 ...put her through college.
 ...encourage her dreams, especially the ones that seem impossible.
 ...make sure Jane knows that no matter what she does, even if it's rotten, we still love her.
